Prob a silly work related question

Does anyone know how the insurance coverage works if you are employed full time up until you deliver, but won't be returning, are you covered by your employers insurance for the delivery?

  • I'm not positive but I would think if you were on paid maternity leave you would be covered because you are still technically an employee. However, if you just quit instead of maternity leave probably not. You could call your insurer and ask.

  • I think it is best to always pretend like you will be returning. Otherwise your employer can terminate your insurance as of the last day you actually worked.

  • Until you send in your letter of resignation you are covered, at least that is how it worked for me.
