Hi everyone,
I'm new to the bump and am currently in my first-ever wait to see if I'm pregnant. I haven't had a positive urine test yet, but my doctor thinks it likely that I'd have hcg levels too low anyway. I go in tomorrow for a blood test and a sono to see if maybe a cyst is the culprit behind all of my symptoms.
ANYway, I have PCOS and Autoimmune Thyroid Disease and would be at high-risk. I'm wondering if any of you know if your pregnancy is usually similar to your own mother's pregnancy? She has the same health conditions that I do and it took forever for them to prove she was pregnant. She also had a long, difficult pregnancy with all kinds of complications.
I am having difficulty finding information on this particular topic!
Re: Pregnancy similar to mother's?
I actually asked my mom about symptoms I was having last week(primarily gestational rhinitis--lots of congestion and sneezings), and her response was that every pregnancy is different...
Your pregnancy may be similar to your mom's, or it may not. It may have some shared symptoms without sharing all of them. Either way, good luck!
Yes mine have been similar to my mother's. I had morning sickness both times and i have a girl and I am pregnant with a girl currently. My mom had trouble with her cervix dilating during labor, and mine never ever dilated even a fingertip. So some similarities....but not exact.
BTW I also have autoimmune thyroid disease (hashimoto's)
(I occasionally lurk on this board after discovering a potentially problematic cervix that is currently not a problem.)
However, my mom had considerable trouble getting pregnant and most likely had numerous early miscarriages/chemical pregnancies that they think resulted from low progesterone. She eventually concieved me on clomid and was supplemented with progesterone for a few weeks after getting a positive pregnancy blood test. She then went on to have a completely wonderful problem free pregnancy with no morning sickness or anything like that.
I anticipated problems getting pregnant but was lucky and got pg right away with no medical assistance needed before or after my BFP. I had morning sickness and exhaustion from day one. I may or may not have a short cervix but that was not a problem she had. So, basically, our TTC journeys and pregnancies have been nothing alike.
Good luck!
ETA- my mother, uncle, aunt, grandparents, etc, are all hypothyroid but so far my levels are normal.
