Darby.....Male or Female Name?

I am thinking about using the name Darby Thomas if it's a boy.  My fathers nickname is Darby and my FIL's name is Thomas.  I think it would be a nice treat for the grandfathers.   The name comes up as unisex but what do you think?  Male or female?  Help!!!!1

I think of it as masculine, even though the only Darby I've ever met was a woman. It has a lumpy, awkward masculine sound to me; I just can't see anything feminine about it.

It is fun to say with an Irish accent though: )

I know a girl named Darby, so for me I immediately think girl.  But I can see how it could go either way

My first thought was girl.... but I guess it could work for a boy.  It's NMS but I kind of like it.

I think these days it's used more for girls, though to me it sounds like a turn-of-the-century male name.

This is the only Darby I know, so girl for me.

If little kids watch the Disney Channel that's what they'll think too. I don't know how much that matters to you, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

I think female because my aunt's name is Darby, her daughter's name is Darby and her granddaughter is named Darby.

I have heard it more often/think of it as a girl name, but it's definitely unisex enough that I wouldn't bat an eyelash at it as a boy name.

I think girl, but my friend's daughter's name is Darby.  BUT, I think it can work as a boy's name.  It's not like you're  naming him Jessica or anything!

Thanks for all the feedback!  Just what I expected....mixed reviews, but I guess with a unisex name that's what you get!  I automatically think male, which my whole family does too because of my father.
