High-Risk Pregnancy

Just diagnosed with 4g4g Pai-1. Anyone else?

Following the early arrival of my DS (31 weeks) on 7/24/10, my OB ordered a panel of tests to determine the cause. The only positive results I had was for 4G4G PAI-1, and they really couldn't explain in great detail what this means. I've tried online research to no avail. I see the hematologist on 10/4, and I'm sure he'll be able to provide better information, but I would greatly appreciate hearing from any of you ladies who have this diagnosis regarding what it means in relation to pregnancy, childbirth and life in general.

TIA!

  • Holy cow I thought I was the only one! I was dx last September after three miscarriages. I have the 4g4g PAI-1 and also hetero MTHFR. My dr put me on Lovenox injections for this pregnancy, and so far the injections have kept me pregnant. Although I did go into preterm labor a week and a half ago, but they got it stopped and I'm now home on bedrest.

  • So it looks like there are 3 of us with this :)

I was dx'd with it after three miscarriages. My RE put me on Lovenox for my pregnancy and I delivered my son at 37 weeks. I'm on it again for this pregnancy. I don't know what it means for life in general, but after my baby-making is done I plan on visiting a hemo. I'd love to hear what yours has to say after your appt next month.

After 27 months, 5 IUI's, 3 m/c's, 2 IVF's, 2 FET's (and a partridge in a pear tree) we finally had our baby boy. Our first son was born on Jan. 1, 2009.

Did another round of IVF and our girl/boy twins were born May 12, 2011
  • Wow! Apparently we're a pretty rare breed. :)

I'll post an update following my appointment on Monday.

    Thanks for your feedback!
