I told my family and DH's family and a very close friend right away. And then plan on telling others after the first trimester. However, I just found out that my dad has been telling people. We told him not to, but apparently he just can't help himself b/c he's too excited. My parents live in a small town and word spreads quickly. And I'm still close friends with several people from there. So, now I'm worried that some of my friends will find out before I get to tell them and have their feelings hurt. But, I still am nervous to announce it in case of a miscarriage. UGH! I'm so irritated, but then feel like I can't be too mad b/c my dad is just excited. What would you do?
Re: telling people
Same thing happened to us. We had to tell our parents because we were living with one set and it was only right that the others would know. Even though we asked them not to tell anyone, we were getting congratulations by our own friends within 48 hours of telling them the news. Hindsight, but you have to be prepared that once you start telling people, everyone is going to know.
In terms of m/c, it is scary, but remember that more than likely, you will be having this baby. And in the event that you do m/c, you may want a support group to help you through everything. It's not a shameful thing that necessarily needs to be hidden.

Kinda seems like the cat's out of the bag. I would tell close friends, but let other people just hear about it.
