Stuck on Middle Name

DH and I are 95% sure we're gonna go with the name Nico. We are stuck on a middle name though. 

Nico Montgomery: This is DH's choice. His first name starts with a N and Montgomery is his middle name so he'd like to use it. I don't think these two names fit together AT ALL.

Nico Matthew: I proposed this name so that DS will still have all the same initals as DH. DH says it doesn't sound good together AT ALL.

What do you think? Either of these, or do you have a totally different suggestion. We are def open to suggestions. Thank you!!

Neither of these really seem to fit, sorry. I don't have any suggestions, but you could do a search on nameberry specifying the "feel" you want for the middle name and asking for names that start with M.

I'm Italian, but DH is not. I would personally prefer to go with Nicolas and use nn Nico, but DH is not on board with this. So Nico it is. It's about the ONLY name we can agree on.

I'm not sold on this, but what about Matthias? It sounds a little more in line with Nico's style.

DH should be home soon and I will propose all of these to him and let you know what he thinks. Also, how would you pronounce Matthias? Would it be mah-THIY-is or mah-TEE-ahs?

I think it depends on last name. I like it with a short last name. If your LN is 3+ syllables, I say go simpler for MN.  But Nico Montgomery Smith, for example, sounds good.

I like Nico Montgomery.   I think the flow is fine and it balances out the short first name.   I also prefer family names for middle names over random names.

I was going to suggest Mathias as well.  It's a little more exotic (kinda like Nico) than Matthew, but still starts with M.  Same with Mateo.  How about:

I agree that Nico Montgomery doesn't go together very well at all.

Personally, I think something, I dunno, more Euro-sounding would be fitting.
