I had a D&C following my miscarriage - originally, it was a missed miscarriage, then I miscarried naturally, but had already scheduled a D&C, so we went through with it the next day, The D&C was August 31. I had bled for a week before I miscarried, then I bled for a good 2 weeks after. I started feeling like I was ovulating (lots of fertile mucuous, etc.)about a weeks ago, but never had a temperature rise, and the fertile mucous went away. Last night, I spotted some blood and had LOTS of cramps, and was sure my period was starting. (before the miscarriage, I never had any PMS symptoms - my period would just start, no cramps or anything, so the cramps were wierd). But then, the spotting stopped, the cramps stopped. I spotted the tiniest - and I mean the TINIEST amount of blood today, but otherwise, nothing. Is this normal? What is the first period after a D&C normally like? I am planning on trying to conceive again, and my doctor said I could go ahead and try with my first period after the D&C. But, with what happened last night, I feel like my cycles are all screwed up now. Before the miscarriage, I had clockwork - if not short - cycles - typically 24 to 26 days. I would ovulate around day 14-16, and would get my period 10days later.
What were your first periods like following miscarriage/D&C?
Re: First Period after miscarriage/D&C?
I found this site to be very helpful! Hope it answers your questions. I just had my D&C yesterday so I don't have any experience with it yet.

my period showed up about 4.5 weeks after D&C (which I'm told is on the early side...). I used to have some cramping prior to it starting, and spotting for a couple of hours before it fully started.
This time, I had spotting for 3 full days before my period started, and a lot of cramps. It was also WAY heavier than usual. I mean, I felt like a pre-teen, just starting to have periods. I was totally unprepared for how heavy it was, and I had some leaking over my pads (TMI, a little), and that never happens to me anymore.
Thanks so much for the link to the pregnancy loss website!! According to their website, my period has arrived too early. They said 4-7 weeks is "normal" and anything before 4 weeks is not 'really' a period. Well, my period "officially" started yesterday - at 3 weeks 6 days past my miscarriage. I had my D&C the day after my miscarriage. So I am really early. I'm hoping this doesn't mean I am all messed up as far as my cycles are concerned, because I do want to try to get pregnant again soon. But it is most definitely a period - and BOY is it heavy! Much heavier than is *normal* for me (although my periods are on the heavy side anyway). So now, I'm waiting to ovulate.....
Thanks again for the info!
