Question About Early Pregnancy?

Hi, I'm pretty new to these boards. I've read a few, which I guess makes me a lurker, but I haven't ever posted before. My husband and I are actually trying to conceive. We're only on the 3rd cycle and no BFP yet, but my question needs to be answered by lwomen who have been or are pregnant, so I am posting here instead of the TTC board.

I read that pregnant women can have mild cramps, relating to implatation or the beginnings of the uterus stretching, about a week before the expected period. Like I said, I have no BFP yet, and I'm not getting my hopes up that I am pregnant, but I have had mild cramps for the past two days...starting about 7 days before my period was scheduled to arrive. My first thought was that I was going to start early, but still no sign of that so far, and I've never had physical PMS symptoms before. I'm not trying to get ahead of myself here, but you know how the imagination can play tricks! I'm just wondering if what I read was true and women can have cramps that early on? Would love it if I were pregnant but like I said, not getting my hopes up. Just curious about this cramping. Thanks for your help!

If you have symptoms, take a pregnancy test if you think you could be pregnant.  I took one 6 days before my period was due and got a positive result.

Early pregnancy and AF look pretty much exactly the same - cramping included.

Unfortunatly, you will have to wait until you can test for an answer.

And please remember, it can take the average couple with no issues and great timing a year to conceive.

The cramping was what made me take the pregnancy test. Mine started about 12 dpo, and after about 3 days of it, I figured I would just take one test a few days earlier than I expected. It showed up + right away.

I only had light cramping with my first pregnancy.  It started on 12dpo.  1 day before my period was due.

Thanks for your responses ladies. I'm not getting my hopes up since we haven't been TTC very long, but this will be our first child, and since I tend to overanalyze things it helps my brain to know what (and what not) to expect. I stress a bit less that way, and stress is definitely what I don't want right now!

I had, and still mildly have, AF type cramps, so I didn't know anything was unusual for me before I got my BFP. I only had two out of the norm symptoms: taking a nap (the day before my BFP), because I never take naps; and sore boobs that lasted far longer than my usual post O soreness.

I had lite cramping, but a big indicator was that my body temperature was up- I noticed it- and I didn't need to track it.

I had AF like cramping a week or so before I was to get MP, which was not at all normal for me.  I waited a week & tested a couple days before I expected AF & got my positive.  I've still had cramps (Uterus stretching) but not really any other symptoms.

i had mild cramps (usually i have severe ones right before AF) and thought i was about to start, but then they went away. that was on 9/9. i was supposed to start on 9/5, but just thought i was a little late. on 9/13 i tested and immediately had my bfp. good luck!

I am not sure exactly how many days but yes. I did have a full days worth of period like cramping. And then no period. So that was my first big indication that I was pregnant. The other one for me was that with my first pregnancy my boobs were SO SORE!
