i had a rash on my leg about 2 weeks ago. didn't think much of it but that it itched and kinda hurt. i was going to ask my dr about it but for those who remember my babysitter was killed so i forgot. well i went and got my lab results in medical records (bc i work at the hospital) and my varicella zoster levels are up. i think i freaking had shingles!! good thing is that my kids haven't broke out in chickenpox but i am worried about the baby

waiting for the nurse to call me back. anyone had this problem?

Re: well that is just wonderful...NOT
I'm not a dr. by any stretch of the imagination but when DH had shingles they were from a point in his spine and went around him like a circle parallel to the point in his spine. Apparently the virus stays dormant in your spine so to have it on your legs and for it to have not lasted very long it doesn't sound like shingles. DH had it for MUCH longer than that and it was terribly painful/itchy.
I'm not a dr. either, but I do know you can get it other places than just your spine. It actually just runs along nerve paths, so anywhere there's nerves. It does tend to hang around longer though and is definitely painful--due to the nerves!
OP, I wouldn't worry too much and hopefully the dr. will have some answers for you!

well the office called back and said they weren't sure. the lab means i guess if i have had chickenpox before..ever..which i have. the dr said with it being painful and scabbing up it could have been but there isn't a way to know for sure. i guess just wait and see what happens but no problems with the baby i guess which is great
