hello ladies,...........let me have it.
i am team green. theese are my and DHs number one picks for boy and girl baby names. We are pretty sure about theese names, but i would appreciate any and all feedback. If there is some horrible association or nick name that i am unaware of, please let me know.
Both names fit well with our last name. we chose Atticus from to kill a mockingbird, and Evangeline is from a song we love. I feel that Atticus is a good strong name, and i love the literary connection. Evangeline really just appeals to me, and i love all the possibilities for nick names. Especially Eva, although I think i will call her Van. It is important to us that the names are unique, but not so much that they hinder the baby in any way. On the other hand Im nervous that either of theese names might become too trendy.
Thank you in advance.
Re: Atticus and Evangeline
I like both names, especially Atticus.
I think both are getting more popular but not so much that they are "trendy."
I like the meanings too:

I think you're okay. No bad associations I can think of.
Evangeline is pretty
Atticus is nice
I love both of them...they are both on my short lists.
To Kill A Mockingbird is my favorite and I love the song by EmmyLou Harris.
Atticus is my absolute favorite boy's name. I think it's awesome you're going to use it! I agree with you that it's a strong name; I think it's very masculine and unique without being the slightest bit weird. You can't get a better literary connection than Atticus Finch, either.
Evangeline is a beautiful name. I love how feminine it is, and I agree that it has some great NN potential. I've always liked it (even though the first time I heard it was on a girl who was a complete drama queen on a youth group trip---even she couldn't hinder what a lovely name this is!).
I wouldn't be too worried about their popularity. Both names are getting more popular, but neither is going to be the next Emma or Aiden. If you look at the trends, boys names stay pretty consistent (a lot of biblical names: Jacob, Andrew, Matthew, Benjamin, Zachary...). I don't think Atticus will ever make it that high. Girl name trends seem a little more fickle, but generally, it seems names with more than 3 syllables just don't get very high up the list.
It's because it has my name in it...isn't it? Confess devil woman!
