Does anyone know when it is suggested to take breastfeeding/birthing classes? Also, I heard that they book up really fast... is that true, and if so, when is it suggested to make reservations?
We're still only in the first trimester, so we won't do anything for several weeks, but unfortunately my DH coaches on the weekends through Winter/early Spring, so we have to plan WAY ahead to get time off for him to attend!!!
Thanks for any input!
Re: AAMC Classes
Hubby and I just took their childbirth class - ONE WONDERFUL DAY. It was tough to spend 9a-5p in the classroom on a Saturday but it was a very informative, helpful class and we're glad we went. Our instructor Terry lectured to a set agenda of topics but told stories and answered questions whenever anyone had any. She was very warm and accomodating. While it doesn't go into detail about various birthing methods and how to breath correctly, it is a very good overview about AAMC's birth philosophy and the services you will find there as well as the usual general details about birth, medications and pain coping alternatives.
BTW, I'm in my 34th week and almost everyone in our class is due within the next 2 months if that helps you schedule a class. I'd make the reservation soon as it is a popular class that fills quickly.
Good luck
