1st Trimester

Did anyone else have a unusually small measurement at their first appt?

So, I am not a regular poster but could really use your responses on this.

I had my first appt. yesterday with the doctor and he did an ultrasound.  I should be almost 9 weeks (and my dates should be accurate because I charted).  Well the measurement on the ultrasound was 6w2d and he could not find a heartbeat.

I have not had any signs of miscarrage so far.  We go back next week for another ultrasound to see if the baby grows at all and if we can detect a heartbeat then.

I am just looking for similar stories...could it be possible for this to happen and the baby be okay?  I am not feeling to optimistic...and thinking that the baby probably stopped growing at 6w2d...but not sure why I would still be carrying the baby going on three weeks later?  Stories good or bad are welcome.  Thank you ladies!

  • I haven't heard of anything good from a situation like yours, but I'm no expert. I'm really sorry.

  • I'm sorry you're going through this. I can't imagine what you're feeling right now. There was a Bumpie a few weeks ago who thought her pregnancy was doomed because she measured about 2 weeks behind and was given a slim chance, but when she returned for a follow-up u/s there was a hb! I hope for the same outcome for you.

Thank you for sharing this, good to hear.  We are trying to only think positive thoughts until next week.
