I bought the Trader Joe's prenatal vitamins while TTC since I read somewhere it was good to take them even before you know you're prego. I stopped pretty soon, though, once I realized it was wreaking havoc on my digestive system..
Now, I've got my BFP and wanting to get on the nutrition bandwagon ASAP. Has anyone had success with other brands of prenatal vitamins that are "gentler"? I heard it's the high iron content that's usually the issue - and I've tried taking it with food, in the morning, in the evening, upside down, and under water (ok, I'm being sarcastic).
Should I just opt for multiple supplements (namely, Folic acid, calcium, basic multivitamin, etc)??
TIA!
Re: Prenatal vitamins that don't give you the runs?
Iron usually stops you up - not the other way. Iron is a known "constipater".
I am taking Target brand Multi, plus add'l Folic Acid. With DD#1, I couldn't stomach any vit, so my OB had me take 2 Flinstones chewables, plus a small add'l Folic Acid. Easy peasy.

I take Vitafusion gummy vitamins from Target. I love them - I have no complaints! Although, they do not contain Calcium (but I take plenty of Tums, so I'm definately getting that) or Iron (Dr. said I can take a Fe suplement when I near the 2nd trimester, or I might start getting really tired.)

I had no problems with this vitamin

I have had the runs since 4wks and was told to stop taking my PNV, I still have the runs and I'm starting to think it's just my body's response to all the changes - some people get constipated, I go the other way.
I have been taking 800micrograms of folic acid, per my OB. I do think I'll be adding the Flinstones vitamins in soon though.
This is what I've been taking too. I do have to take them at night or I feel sick (even before the pregnancy) but all vitamins seem to do that to me. I don't have any problems if I take them before I go to bed.

Thanks all!
Interesting to think that my digestive issues have nothing to do with the vitamins.. maybe this is what I get instead of morning sickness! If so, I'm glad. I hate yacking.
