TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

~*~Kelin~*~

Hey girl!  Hope you are doing well.  I was reading your comment to my BGP post.  As you know we are also doing IVF very shortly and we are doing PGS testing.  I noticed you said you were going to do PGD testing, what about PGS?  Is that an option at your office?  I am sorry to hear what your doc said, and I really hope this isn't the case.  You know where to find me if you ever want to chat.  Much love to you.

  • Hi Miss Kona!

Starting IVF in 1 day?!?!  WOW - I bet you are excited!  I will be stalking your posts to see how it goes.

My doctor told me he'd be doing; Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) / Aneuploidy Screening (AS) (this was copied from his email).  So I am not sure which one we are actually doing.  To me it sounded like it was a combination of stuff.  I need to ask him more about it but we are still waiting for the RPL panels and karyotyping results to come back - should be in a week from today.  This will tell us if these losses are all just flukes or if they are a genetic issue like my RE suspects.  My husband was married before and his ex-wife had 3 m/c's and no successful pregnancies with him but she had children from another marriage, so the RE thinks there may be a link there.

If the tests come back with a genetic issue then we will still proceed with our FET and cross our fingers.  If the FET doesn't work then we'll move on to another fresh IVF cycle with PGD/AS and see how that goes.  It makes me cringe, it's just more money ... CA-CHING!  But we have already invested close to 20k on all this IF crap.  Might as well go all the way, right???

One thing he told us to think about was to get an egg donor.  If we get one through the clinic (apparently they have girls that farm themselves out) the cost is $3k.  Or we can find our own donor within our family, which is just too weird for me.  I couldn't ask one of my little cousins for her eggs.

Sorry, that was hecka-long!  I am so excited for your IVF!  I am pulling for you!!!!!!

  • That would be the screening we are doing. The reproductive technology today is just amazing. This basically screens all 24 chromosomes, when just over a year ago they were only able to screen less then half. So this is what my RE claims. I am keeping my fingers crossed for your test results and moving forward with FET. Hopefully this will be the one and you can avoid another IVF cycle. Believe me, I know how expensive it is. It is a shame neither of our insurance providers cover the treatment. But, not regrets! It is all worth it. Sorry for the long paragraphs, iPad doesn't like board posting. Hugs!
