Update to u/s appt today...about bleeding

So after bleeding for a week I finally got in to get an u/s.  First on Friday I had some blood work done which they went over with me today, my HCG levels are great but my progesterone level was a little low.  They said that they would like for my levels to be at 18 but mine was at 15.7 so I am now being put on prometrium for the next 30 days.  I then go in for my u/s and the lady quickly located the baby who had a nice strong heartbeat!!! We got to hear it! She measured the baby and calculated based off of the size of the baby and all of my dates (ovulation, LMP, etc) that our new due date is May 15!

So about the bleeding...the sonographer looked at my uterine lining and said that I have a pocket of blood between the uterus and the baby that is stuck, that is why I'm having the bleeding and that the baby is fine!!! It is just a uterine abnormality and it's nothing to worry about!

I hope all of the other ladies that had appts today had good appts as well, and to all of the ladies who have had bleeding, there is hope! Try not to stress too much!

Thank you ladies for your support over the last week, I'm literally on cloud 9 right now!Big Smile

  • That "pocket of blood" is called a Subchorionic Hematoma. It's very common in early pregnancy and usually resolves itself by the 20th week if not sooner. I had one with DD, resolved by 12 weeks, then I have one now that is slightly larger. I've been spotting brown for a week now, but I hear that's ok as it means it's resolving.

Glad to hear everything is going well! You may have more spotting if that clot works itself out, but you also may not since the body may just reabsorb it instead of pushing it out through the cervix.

Thank you so much...with my "mommy brain" I couldn't for the life of me remember what it was called! Thank you for sharing your story, it makes me feel that much better about everything going on!

  • I'm still spotting after a week of my first gush. It's unnerving to say the least and I'm not as calm and collected as I'd like to be, but I know that I'm not going to lose the baby from it. If I do, it's because of something else that I had no control over.
