Ugh. We have a somewhat uncommon LN (as long as we don't move to SE Mass or Portugal ) that people have a hard time spelling or pronouncing, so that's one reason I wanted straightforward first names for our kids. Personally, I like having a name that's not ridiculously common but also that doesn't make it *too* easy for certain people to find me!
i have definitely googled most of the baby name [first + middle, first + last] combinations i've considered over the years because you just never know what you're going to find. one that i liked turned out to be the name of a porn star so i'm glad i looked.

I enjoyed the anonymity of having a common first and last name before I was married. According to howmanyofme.com, there are 5800 people in the U.S. with my first and maiden last name, but only 150 with my first and married last name. I liked being invisible to Google.
im the only one with my name. both married and maiden. maiden last name was long and greek and anyone in the us with that last was a cousin/uncle/aunt etc. and i was the only krista thought there was a christos.
and now my last name is complicated and russian and its not common at all and the only people in the country with it are me, my husband and a couple of his cousins. his sister and mother have the girl version of the last name.
and i know that my baby will be the only karina x since it's a male last name and there are like 5 of us in the country.

Good point! Maybe I'll start googling names then.
