Hemp vs. Bamboo?

Which is more absorbant.  Can these go directly against their skin or do you need to put something between them?

I've always heard that hemp is more absorbent than bamboo. Bamboo is still more absorbent than MF though. I just got my first bamboo inserts the other day and I haven't tried them yet but I really love our hemp inserts. We have many kinds. My new favorite is AFFF but there are other good ones out there as well. I also really like the Swaddlebees inserts which are hemp topped with bamboo velour (so soft!). 

Both can go directly against the skin as they are natural fibers and soft enough that they won't irritate your baby's tush. The only thing is that they are not stay-dry like synthetic fibers so if your baby needs that stay-dry feeing, you may want to put a fleece liner on top.

LOL  There is so much to learn!!!  And I'm trying not to buy too much, I'm trying to experiment with what I have until I figure out what I need more of!    Still waiting for those other hemp inserts you suggested to arrive, they shipped the same day I ordered!!

Aww no problem! Which ones did you end up ordering? Was it the Knickernappies doublers?

Yes the Knickernappies hemp doublers, and a wet bag so I could get my free shipping!   I needed one of those anyway.

Nice! Those work fantastically when paired with almost any insert. I like them best on top of hemp. They add a nice "boost" to my dipes. I think you will like them. Just remember to pair them with another insert since they're a doubler and not meant as a stand alone insert. And just so you know, they won't reach their max. absorbency for a few washes which is typical of hemp and bamboo, even after its prepped. The Knickernappies comes pre-washed so I just threw them in with my regular CD wash and didn't bother prepping them. I recommend adding All Natural Baby Center (thats where you got them, right?) and Mom's Milk Boutique on FB. Both sites put frequent sales and codes on their FB pages so this way you can keep an eye out for deals. :)Phew! Sorry for the long reply!

Thanks for the tips.  I saw that it was a doubler but I ordered the large one in hopes to just use that.  I guess not?  I'll try it with one of my smaller inserts and see how they work together!
