High-Risk Pregnancy

In-home care for children of the high-risk mother?

Other than having a nanny, does anyone know of any resources I could check for finding short-term assistance to care for a mom who has to do bedrest for the 2nd and 3rd trimesters and has very young kids (and has a combined low-income to begin with)?

Perhaps even where they can partially help the bedridden mom in the least (just by bringing pre-made food to the bed, etc. but mainly just caring for little infants who can't be lifted, played with and the like?

Where might be the best place to ask this question or to even look?

Thanks for your help.

  • We found help at Care.com and also hired a nanny for #1 from Criagslist who worked for us and was the most amazing nanny, but we did extensive background checks.  Good luck!

  • Not sure if this is an option for you, but does your state offer day care assistance for low income families.  I have actually no idea what you need to qualify, and it would not be at your home but maybe it could be an option. I had a friend many years ago who separated from husband and worked in food service. She had 3 kids and the state helped out with day care until she went was able to find a better paying job.  She only paid $12 a week for 3 kids (I think-it has been about 15 years)  Good luck, I hope you find an answer that works for your family.
