TTC After a Loss

Miscarriage/D&C and ovulation?

I am wondering if having a miscarriage and a D&C can mess up your ovulation? It has been 5 months now since my miscarriage and D&C but I can't help but worry that it messed up my cycles or something...I know I'm probably being paranoid but now that my hubby and I are trying again I'm scared for some reason that I won't ovulate like I normally did before everything happened! Anybody else have this fear?

    Do you chart?

    This

Without charting you will not know what your body is doing. I was always told by my doc that I was never ovulting, as I would not get my period for months. Since the late loss I started charting and my 1st month I ovulated on CD 28,

I would sign up for Fertility friend and start charting.

  • Yes, it can affect your cycles. It's different for everyone. You might want to try charting to see what's going on before you worry yourself too much.

  • Mine was never normal before my m/c so I do/did have a fear that I wouldn't ever be normal.  My RE has me on a different plan now, but I highly suggest charting.  Sign-up for Fertility Friend.com and read Taking Charge of Your Fertility.  They were both super helpful.

    Good luck!

  • I agree with what everyone else said. Cycles can be messed up for months after!!

  • I was always on BC so my cycles were always 28 days and before being on BC they were always about 24 days.  Since my D&C they keep getting longer each month....28, 29, 31 and since I am charting I suspect this month to be 32 days.  So my body clearly isn't exactly back to normal since even before being on BC my cycles didn't change this much or were not as long.
  • Yep this is exactly my fear....and it is turning out to be true :(

  • My cycles were normal for the 3 months after going off bcp. Since my first loss, they've been completely wacky. Just when I thought they were getting back to normal (almost 8 months after), I go pg and had another loss.

I've decided to start charting. I would highly recommend it just to have a sense of whats going on.

  • Thank you ladies for all of your help and advice! I haven't been charting because we are just now ready to start trying again and I guess I just didn't want to get all into it until I knew we were both on board. I never charted before because we got pregnant on our first month of trying. I have heard lots of good things about the 'Taking Charge of Your Fertility' book and I think I'll have to make a Barnes and Nobles stop this weekend! Thank you again!
