Infertility

meds arrived yesterday. . . question

Good morning ladies!

I got my meds for our IVF cycle yesterday.  I tried not to be intimidated by the size of the box. . .

I have my bloodwork this Sunday and start Lupron on Monday (CD 22) if the bloodwork is ok.

My question is, does Lupron delay AF?  Or should I get AF around my normal time?

Also, I know this has been asked before, but if you'd like to share your Lupron symptoms. . . I like to be prepared!

Thanks!

ETA:  my doctor did not have me do BCPs with this protocol. . .

Re: meds arrived yesterday. . . question

  • i think for some ppl, lupron can delay their period. it didn't for me - once i stopped BCP, AF came within 3 days.

lupron made me very emotional - i turned into a big crybaby. luckily, i didn't have the hot flashes or headaches that some women experience, but i did have a bit of the "lupron fog." just sort of very forgetful and was very easily distracted.

good luck! i hope your cycle goes well :)

  • Lupron affected me diff. every time. I did experience headaches and "foggy" feeling. To ward off really bad headaches I drank tons of water. For me Lupron did not delay my period or make it lighter. GL!

  • My period started 3 days after last bcp.  Lupron has given me some headaches (but I am very prone to them), hot flashes at night, and a little bit of fog (but this could be my allergies too).

It's not as bad as it seems once you get started!  Good luck!

  • Lupron did not delay my period, I started taking on about day 21 and AF arrived pretty much on time.

Not sure if you want to know my side affects, I don't want to scare you! I had the "lupron fog" everyone talks about, headaches, hard to concentrate etc, but I also got very sick on it, bad nausea, acid reflux and vomiting every day. Accoring to my Dr, that is rare, so I'm sure you'll be fine. Drink loads and loads of water. For my FET I am on a lupron alternative (nasal spray) which so far has been fine, I'm just paranoid now it's not working!!

    Good luck with your cycle.

  • I took Lupron for 7 days while on BCPs.  I continued Lupron until AF arrived, usually 4 days later.   Last time, AF never showed up and I went in for an u/s and bloodwork on day 5 and was able to start stims.

I do experience the Lupron fog and mild headaches.  The shot itself is really easy.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks ladies!  I am a teacher. . . I'm picturing myself forgetting a lesson halfway through due to a Lupron fog and then crying or yelling at my students. . . yikes!

  • AF was not delayed for me, but I was on BCPs so I got it 3 days after my last pill.  As far as lupron goes, my main side effect was daily headaches.  Good luck on your upcoming cycle!  It's so exciting to get started!
