The u/s tech tried an abdominal u/s first, just in case we could get all the info we needed from a less invasive method. Right away, she found the LO! So small, but she said it looked good. Most likely ovulated from my left ovary. Couldn't get a good reading on the hb, although it looked like it was beating away. So we switched to vaginal.Jokingly, I asked the tech while she was poking around, "You sure there's only 1 in there?" I know, witty right? Like they don't hear it 20 times a day. However, she says, "Well, actually, there might be 2...Yup, there's definitely 2!" That's right, we're having TWINS! She only saw one on the abdominal scan! Measured both babies to be about 4 days behind what I thought, but everything looked good. Hb's were around 122-ish, which she said was good. When the MD came in and looked around, she finally found the membrane between the babies, which was so thin you could barely tell it was there. In her opinion, that means they're most likely identical.OMG! It took a lot to get over the shock of there being 1 human being growing inside me. Now, I'm grappling with the fact that there are 2! I feel beyond blessed! We'll most likely u/s's every month or so, since I'll require more monitoring (but I'm not complaining about seeing my babies more often!). DH and I are so ecstatic. I'm tearing up even writing this. I feel like after losing our first, we've been blessed with 2 now to make up for it!
Congratulations!!!!!! That is so exciting! My husband and I joke with each other alot about me having twins because I'm big for only 3 months, but I would be totally excited if I found out we were having twins!!!
