I went in to discuss all the results of my labs/ultrasounds/sonogram, expecting that he would tell me the next step to take.
He said my ultrasounds showed a good ovarian reserve, sonogram showed no blockage in tubes, & that my problem is that I'm not ovulating (hypothalamic pituitary dysfunction). He then said that it's totally up to us, whether we start with Clomid or injectables, or go straight to IVF. I feel overwhelmed! I reminded him that I will be turning 40 next month & asked if he had ANY leaning in terms of a recommendation. He said, "Well, I guess if you were my daughter, I'd say possibly to try injectables, but again it's up to you two."
We have to decide by the end of this weekend, because AF is probably going to arrive tomorrow. So, when they open up again on Monday, I will already be on day 3. I have a lot of reading to do, because there's so much we don't know!
Any thoughts?
Re: Confused about fertility dr. appt today re: treatment
I will be 40 this month. That being said, I had a m/c after three rounds of clomid then, got pregnant with Emerson naturally right after that.
I tried for over a year to get pregnant again after having her only to try clomid again for three months. Then, I did three IUI's. The last month I was going to try I went for injectables. It was on my third attempt at IUI and first month on the injectables when I got pregnant with my twins.
After everything that I tried I was diagnosed with secondary IF...really no problems just couldn't get pregnant, the injectables are what worked for me.
If you're serious about getting pregnant then, I would go for the injectables. All they do is make you ovulate bigger and better eggs. I'd try up to three injectable+IUI cycles and if that didn't work, go for IVF.
I wouldn't mess with the clomid and timed intercourse....put yourself in the best situation at this point. Just remember that you could end up with multiples. You've got to be ready for that if you decide to go with the injectables.... GL to you!!!!
