Thirsties Covers

Hi Ladies,

I'm a lurker mostly but have posted a few questions while researching options for my stash.  I'm TTC (and hoping this is my lucky month).  I know for the nb stage you need about 6 covers, so would you purchase 6 xsmall Thirsties covers or maybe 3 xsmall and 3 small?  TIA!

Re: Thirsties Covers

  • I got by just fine with 4 Thirsties Duo covers, but could have used 5. I'm not sure what the benefit of the sized covers vs. the Duos are, but DS fit in the Duos from the time he was born until he was about 15lbs. My thinking is that you'd need at least 4 covers that fit LO at any given time, so 3 xs and 3 s might not work.

  • For NB stage, size S would be way too big.
  • I'd actually purchase the duo sz 1s over the sized.
  • I'd get six Thirsties Duos - they cover both xsmall and small sizes.  The small Thirsties will be too big on a nb.

  • I only have 3 duo size 1 covers and have done fine.  Ella was 7 lbs 6 oz at birth and we used them with orange GMD prefolds from day 4 on.  She's 3.5 months now and around 15 lbs and still in the size 1 on the middle setting.  I use prefolds at home and pockets at MIL's during the day.

  • I'd get 4 duos size 1 & 2 bummis superbrite.  those bummis are the smallest covers I could find.  E was 8lb 3oz at burth & the thirsties XS were pretty big initially.
