My LO just graduated from orange to yellow-edged prefolds from Green Mountain Diapers.
I have a credit to GMD so I was thinking of purchasing the next size up to be ready. (I know she won't fit in them for a while, but my credit needs to be used soon.)
Looking at the photos, the brown edge seems only slightly bigger than the reds.
Should I just buy brown instead of red, or is the red that much better?
Thanks!
Re: Are GMD reds worth it?
Yes, they are definitely worth it, IMO. You'll end up having to fold down the brown edge at least 3 inches in front or back for it to fit in a cover and then you'll just have unnecessary bulk. I had reds, turned them all into fitteds, then realized they shrunk up more in the wash and so they don't fit my LO...we're saving them for the next baby.
But I really miss my reds! We only have brown edges and they are so much bigger and red's fit for quite a while, so I think they're worth having. ...also, you could snag some of the seconds for quite a bit cheaper (this is what I did!).
If you use thirsties duo wraps, the red edge is the perfect length to be tri-folded into the size 2 on the largest rise. I'm thinking of skipping the brown.
