TTC After a Loss

Help name our new Furbaby! (Total AW, but I can't help myself)

We're through the application process with the rescue and are so excited to go pick up our new little girl this weekend!  I may or may not have rerouted my drive home from work yesterday to go by Pet Supplies Plus, after getting the email that we were approved.  Embarrassed

Her shelter name is Marina, but I think we're going to go with something different.  A fresh start for this sweet girl.

Some names in the running:

  • Rowan (red haired)
  • Phelan or Felan (the wolf)
  • Dahlia (just cuz I like it)
  • Cerise (a shade of red)

None of these has me sold yet, so I'm on the look out for other suggestions for a pretty and sweet little red and white/blue eyed siberian.  With or without a name, I do have a really cute purple and magenta collar all ready for her, which I'm way too excited about.  It's just fun outfitting a girl dog for once :)

She comes home with us on Saturday morning!  Yaaay!! Big Smile

Re: Help name our new Furbaby! (Total AW, but I can't help myself)

  • I was just about to ask if you had adopted one of the furbabies.  She's gorgeous!

Ok - now I am going to try to think of some names.

  • OMG! So cute - and you're so funny. I am guilty of the same dog shopping adventures!! Claire has a whole collection of pretty collars, and Gromit has silly hats and sweaters. DH just rolls his eyes at me. Embarrassed

Now, I kind of have to go with Rowan, first because it's DH's name (sort of, he's Rohan) and also because DD is a redhead and we love all things red-haired.

BUT, I think the name Dahlia is so pretty and actually suits her quite well. Just like a pretty flower :)

Have fun with your new furbaby!!!

  • Horray! That's so exciting that you are going to be able to get her. She is such a cutie. I like Phelan and Dahlia, Rowan is a cool name, but it sounds more like a male name to me.

I'm fond of the names Maya and Aiyana for huskies too! Good luck and let us know her new name!

  • She is absolutely gorgeous!  What a lucky pup to be going home to such a loving family.  Thank you for adopting!

The first name that popped into my head was Roxy.  I don't know why, but it just seems fitting for her--she seems like a spunky kinda gal.

GL getting through the next few days until she comes home, I'm sure they will draaaaaaaag by!

  • She is a totally cutie!

What about Juno?  I think it is cute, plus it sounds like Juneau, and you know, Alaska...huskies, they go together.  Or you could actually name her Juneau, but I am a lazy speller and like the way Juno looks better.

That's what DH said too.  I was surprised because I only know girl Rowans, but now that I think about it, it does sound a little more masculine.

I was taking a look at that site.... and LOL'd at some of the names. I was shocked to see Aurora on there though.

Anyways, i had to share some of the LOLs.

Chewbacca, Frankenstein, Quasimodo, Wookie! You should totally name her one of those!!

I've seen this one a couple of times.  How do you think it's pronounced?

Ginger definitely just hit the list.  Just enough of a "doggy" name that it's not too people name-ish, but not silly doggy name like Chewbacca.  Those are HILARIOUS!

I saw Aurora on a couple lists too, particularly on the lists for the northern breeds.  It's such a pretty name, but not for a dog!

  • She is beautiful and it is always wonderful to read about someone rescuing a pet. There are so many out there who need forever homes!! I like the name Dahlia and it might be easier for her to get use to because her shelter name ends with an A. My parents have run into a couple dogs that had a hard time accepting a new name because they were completely different from the old one.

GL with everything and have fun with that big beautiful girl!!

  • She is beautiful!!  I like the suggestions Nikita and Sasha.  =]

  • Oh, she's gorgeous!  Congratulations.

I like Ginger or Nikita - although, instead of Nikki, I like the short form of "Kita" (Keeta). Good luck picking a name!

  • She's beautiful!  I've always wanted a Husky, but our fence is way too low to entertain the idea.  We'll have to stick to our Border Terriers for now.  :-)

I think she'll "tell" you her name.  Good luck!
