Anyone have to redo newborn screening?

In IL, there are several required blood tests for newborns to screen for various things.  Our pediatrician's office called today and said we need to go back and have them redone because the thyroid test came back abnormal.  I'm trying to stay off WebMD and not let myself get too freaked out.  Anyone else have to do this?  What was your experience?

This EXACT thing happened to us.  We were also told it was the thyroid.  We had it done and waited a month for it to come back.  It was normal :)  Our peds office said that it comes back normal most of the time.  hope this helps.

Mine didn't come back abnormal, but they didn't get enough blood or something so now I have to have it redone.

Yep two of my boys hemoglobins came back abnormal. Stay of the Internet tell you get the second results back. I was freaking out about sickle cell. Luckily they both don't have it, just the trait gene. Good luck.

We had to redo it again as well, same thing, thyroid.  We had it done on Tuesday, it was more heart breaking for me than it was for him.  Haven't gotten any results back yet but I assume I'll hear if anything is wrong, but it's great to hear everyone elses came back normal!  I haven't googled anything.  Ours was only a little high (normal is <20 ours was 20.8)

The nurse wouldn't give me the numbers, but I'm thrilled to hear that others came back okay after the second test.  I did give in and look online.  I was actually relieved to see that he is not showing any symptoms of a thyroid problem.  We're having the test redone today.  I think I may have DH go in with him so I don't have to watch them stick him.
