On Monday we went to our first appointment. Everything seems to be going well! We heard babies heart beat and that was awesome!
Is it true or a myth that if the heart beats over 150 beats per minute than it is likely a girl?
Also, can anyone recommend a good heart beat monitor? The only we barrowed doesn't seem to work.. brand Summer.
Thanks!!!

I know its probably just an old wives tale, but the heartbeat-gender correlation was true for us for what its worth
Its always fun to play around and try and guess the gender based on OWT.
Also, a lot of the prenatal listener/heartbeat monitors that are sold cheaply for home use, won't work until the late second trimester, according to our doctor. We have the Graco prenatal listener, and it finally could consistently pick up noise at 22 weeks.
Myth.
My first baby's heartrate was in the 150's-160's, and yes, she's a girl. But this baby's heartrate was in the 130's, and she's also a girl.
It's just an old wive's tale.
I have heard that there is absolutely no truth to it, but I am sure that you will hear people reinforce it b/c "their baby's HB was 160 and it was a girl!" I always want to say, "Well, yeah, 50% of the time it is going to be that way..."

Just got it in the mail today-of course I can't use it yet, but apparently it can pick up beginning at 12 weeks. I got my from a rec on here and someone posted and heard the hb @ 9 wks.
