And I am both excited and nervous! Corri has been doing great and according to the charts is right on track with milestones such as rolling, sitting, reaching for things, etc. (still a teeny peanut though...people still give me the side eye when I take her to the mall and other big places, lol), so I am hoping they will tell me that she doesn't need any OT or PT. I am excited to see how she has progressed from their standpoint, but also nervous that there may be some kind of issue that I didn't know about!
Has anyone had an EI appointment that can tell me what to expect? TIA!
Re: Early Intervention Appointment Coming Up Soon...
My LO is now 9 months actual, 5.5 adjusted, and he's been in EI since we got home from the NICU. For evals, the therapist usually just "plays" with him while testing muscle tone, motor abilities, eye tracking, etc...and asks me questions: "Does he ______ " (fill in the blank with a million different things). He qualified initially based on his extreme prematurity and at his last eval he was already a few months behind his adjusted age in motor development so he has 1 therapist visit per month & 2 teacher visits per month. The ladies are great. We are learning so much from them about how to help LO and give him the best chances to "catch up" eventually.
I hope your eval goes wonderfully, and if some things do turn up that you weren't aware of, I know it will be extremely hard to hear. I went into a major downer mood after the last eval seeing that LO was an 8 month old at the time but acting more like a 2 month old in some areas, but after getting over the initial punch in the gut, I feel so lucky to know that we are catching his delays early and getting assistance to address them now before time passes and he'd be even more behind. We enjoy our EI times!
