I'm in process of switching to cds, but am still a little hazy on what pockets work best a night for heavy wetters. I was told pockets are my best bet for both nighttime and heavy wetters. (I would love to get my hands on some monkey snuggles when they're available.)
My DS is a toddler, and with the sposies, he's full come the morning (sleeptime from 8pm to 6 or 7 am). I don't want to have to wake him when he's sttn. I realize I will need to stuff as well. I am planning on adding a wool soaker to the mix for added security.
So those are the two things I'm searching for...pockets with proven absorbtion and if there are specific brands for inserts/doublers that work. I'm planning on picking up the soaker on etsy when I remember to measure him. Thanks.
Re: Suggestions for Pockets
As far as pockets go, the absorption happens in the insert, not the actual pocket. With the pocket itself, what you need to look at is the particular fit for your baby. I'd recommend buying a couple different ones to see which fit the best. With inserts, you need to be able to fit as many in as you need for your babies wetness.
For that reason, I'd recommend staying away from FuzziBunz, as the pocket is a bit narrower and won't fit as much. We keep ours for days. Blueberry pockets have a nice roomy opening that can fit lots of inserts. BG pockets are pretty roomy as well.
For inserts, I like a combination of hemp and microfiber for nights. Right now we use an AFFF hemp insert with a microfiber insert and that does the trick. AFFF (Artsy Fartsy Foo Foo on hyenacart.com) inserts are hard to come by, though, so if you can't get your hands on them, you could try large Super-Dos by Knickernappies. I need to add an extra hemp doubler (I get mine from GreenMountainDiapers.com) to the Super-Do, and sometimes DD still leaks out of it.
