1st Trimester

Sooo tired

I'm a nurse and my shift is 3am-3pm (aka awful). I work yesterday. Passed out on the couch at 7pm, went upstairs to sleep after DH woke me up at 8:30. Woke up at 7am this morning and now I'm really considering going back to bed.

I have ZERO energy. I had planned to clear out the room that we decided to use for the nursery today...I walked in there this morning, looked around and walked right back out. LOL

How do you cope with this horrible fatigue?

Re: Sooo tired

  • I know...it is so hard to deal.  I had the nerve to go to bed after 11:30pm last night.  I am now hurting at work!Tongue Tied  Definitely going to bed early today.

  • Just try to rest/nap whenever you can - you have plenty of time to clear out the nursery room, go take a nap instead!!

I did get that 2nd tri burst of energy everyone talks about with ds - I'm hoping that returns this time!

  • Ugh. I work 2  7p-7a night shifts a week as a nurse too, and i am so beat all the time! I feel like while i only work two nights a week , i am screwed up for 4 days! Chasing around a 17 month old on top of it doesn't help either. I just nap when she naps, and take it easy. Wait to clear out that room till the weekend or whenever your DH can help. Tackling it together might make it go faster too! I have definitely had the TV on more for DD than I want to, but some days are just too early, or she's too cranky to not just take a break in front of nick jr!

I remember that when I was pregnant with DD the fatigue lasted the whole prengnacy ... not just first tri, b/c i was working shift work! UGH!

  • I am eating better, fruits, veggies, proteins and I am drinking lots of water. I also make sure I get a minimum of 8 hours of sleep a night. I am still exhausted. I am sitting here at work trying not to fall asleep. You aren't alone.

  • I know that feeling !! I am now 11 weeks and I have to say starting to not feel as sleepy! Hang in there it gets better!
  • It's tough especially with a toddler! Just know that by the 2nd tri you usually have more energy
