TTC and polycystic ovary syndrome

Hi,

I have been dealing for a while with TTC unsuccessfully.  My doctor did a progesterone test a few months ago, and it showed I wasn't ovulating.  Now with some other tests, we are starting to suspect POS.  I am wondering if anyone else here is dealing with something similar, and how you are handling it.   I had a few ovarian cysts a year ago, and the doctor said it was nothing, now I feel they could have missed diagnosing this much earlier and feel really frustrated.  All of my friends are either pregnant or had kids this past year, so I feel so alone, known of them understand that this is a real issue, they just say "it will happen soon".  Im knew here, and was afraid to post, but I really need to feel that Im not alone.  Thanks!

  • You are definitely NOT alone - I believe there are quite a few people on here also suffering from PCOS. It's not unbeatable - but definitely challenging. Has the doctor made an actual diagnosis and developed a plan as to how to treat it as of yet?

  • Hi!

You aren't alone. There is a whole PCOS check in on Thursdays. Are you seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist or are you still with your OBG/GYN? If you aren't seeing a RE yet now is the time to make an appointment. They will provided with the proper care and monitnoring and are more knowledgeable about TTC with PCOS then your everyday OB/GYN.

Good luck!! I hope your stay is short.

  • I have a mild PCOS. I still ovulate every month but some months I ovulate very late. Where in your cycle did your dr test you? Do you get your period every month? or every other? I found www.Fertilityfriend.com very helpful at tracking my cycles. I agree with the others see a RE.

     Good luck!

  • Thanks for the support!  I am still with my OB/GYN, but she is a fertility specialist.  I will ask for a referral, I live overseas and my healthcare works quite differently, so I will start checking on that.  Thanks.

I get a period every 30-32 days, but after trying an OCOP kit every month and never getting a positive test, I asked my doctor for a progesterone test, which showed no ovulation, now she has me get tested every month to keep checking, so far no ovulation.  I don't have a "confirmed" diagnosis yet, but my doctor is leaning towards it since some other hormone tests have come back also pointing to POS.  It would also explain a number of other issues I have.
