Corpus Luteum cyst anyone?

Anyone diagnosed with a corpus luteum cyst in their early first tri?  Just wondering if it was painful or caused a dull ache in your abdomen if you did.  I have one right now, and it hurts some days, and I don't notice it others. Looking for similar experiences TIA!

Re: Corpus Luteum cyst anyone?

  • I have one. I am not pregnant yet, but this was supposed to be the month to start IUI until my ultrasound revealed that my nice 24mm follicle from last month left behind a 21mm cyst.

While on my period, I had some dull aches and pains, and every now and then it will "grab" me, but I haven't felt anything today. I hope it shrinks quickly.

I will say that I feel it more on my left side even though I know it is on the right.

  • Doc told me I had one...I guess they saw it in my u/s.  So far I haven't felt it...no pain or aches.  But I don't seem real sensitive to certain things...never felt myself ovulate like some do, never had AF cramps, etc...

He said that we would not worry about it...and it would probably go away on it's own.

  • With DS I had one that caused sharp localized pain and red bleeding around 6w.  With this LO I found out I had another one at my 9w u/s and the weird cramping again on my right side.  For me it feels somewhat dull, but also makes me slightly queasy when it would happen.  The feeling is gone now, but I did have spotting from 10-13w, which I'm guessing was the cyst breaking down.

  • Yes! Mine put me in the hospital it hurt so bad. I thought I was loosing the baby. But I hear its not that way for everyone.
  • My ultrasound showed one but dr said it was normal in pregnancy and even healthy - its produces progestrone.
  • Yup- it will breakdown once your placenta is in place and your body is producing its own progesterone. The pain will get better over time- you may be experiencing some RLP as well that may be compounding the situation.
