1st Trimester

Hubby is deployed, and we're pregnant!

Anybody else have a deployed spouse or father of their baby?? We're SO excited about our first child, but it's been so hard already having him away through this.  This is deployment number 2 for us, but this one is SO different!!! He was able to be on the phone the other day during one of our appts and heard the heartbeat which was amazing!! It's just some days are harder than others! At the end of the day though, he gets to come home to a baby so I can't wait!

  • I'm sorry, I don't have any experience but hang in there and try to stay strong!  Good luck!

  • I'm sorry, we're not in that situation, but I wanted to say thank you to both of you!
  • I don't have any experience either, but congratulations to you and YH!!! Thank God for technology so he could hear the hearbeat! Do you know when he'll be able to come home?

  • :(  My brother in law is deployed so I understand how hard it can be to deal with.  Army wives have a different brand of stress than the rest of us.  That's great that he can still be in contact though, and could hear the heart beat.

Thank you and your hubby for all you do for us!
  • Well I was in the Army, as was DH, and we've both been deployed so I know how it feels to be on both ends. Not with children, though. I got out while pregnant with DS because I knew there's no way I could deploy again. If you need anything, feel free to PM me Smile

  • My husband isn't currently gone but he just got home from a deployment in March so I know how tough that can be.

You should check out the Military Families board, there are girls there who are currently or have been through a deployment while pregnant before.

  • Hi. Yep, my DH left about a month ago.  He might still be in his body armor, but he should make it home for the birth. We'll see....

I think it's wonderful that he was able to hear the heartbeat.  Yay!  Congratulations!

  • Congrats and I'm sorry your hubby is deployed. I hope he comes home soon, I thought all troops are coming home? My dad just got home last weekend. Good luck!!

  • I can understand some of what you are going through even though my dh has not be deployed yet we have been at two different locations over the past two years. I have been stuck trying to sale our house in Texas while he has been living without us in North Carolina at Ft. Bragg. It's been rough. The kids miss him and so do I. Of course it's not exactly the same since we have been up until now able to talk to him on a regular basis. (He is in OCS at the moment at Ft. Benning, GA. and for the next two weeks is in the field and unable to talk to us.) Hang in there. It's tough but your not completely alone. Congratulations! Good Luck!

  • Congratulations on the baby!  My DH came home from his 2nd deployment in January, then ETS in April.  I was never pregnant through either tour, but my heart goes out to you guys still.  My best girlfriend (aka my battle buddy) found out she was pregnant the day before our guys left.  I went to all of her appointments with her and video taped them, so we could email the videos to her husband.  That way he got to see all of the sonograms and felt like he was still a part of the process.  Hang in there girl- at least you know this is going to make the deployment fly by!

They pulled all combat troops out of Iraq. Which means Infantry and Tankers mostly. There are still thousands of soldiers over there, but a lot are moving to Afghanistan.

  • First of all, congrats on being pg! Secondly, thanks for YH fighting for our country and you for standing by him! I can't really relate to the situation, but I'll keep you and your family in my T&Ps! Hopefully technology will allow him to be involved in this miracle!

  • Thank you SO much everyone for all your support.  And it's always nice to know you are not alone. It's a different life, but I couldn't be more proud of my hubby and all of our men and women fighting for our country! And now I have a little part of him with me the whole deployment :)
  • Thanks for the info! I will definitely check it out!
  • Thank you!! We're hoping he'll be home for the birth in April, then home for about 2 weeks, then he'll go back until around July.  So we're lucky that he'll only miss a few months of the baby being here.  Wish he didn't have to miss anything of course, but with skype and everything, we consider ourselves lucky!
  • We're hoping for the same thing! Are you able to use Skype or any type of video chat? And thank you and Congratulations to you guys as well!
