Pregnant after IF

burning in lower belly?

I'm nearing the end of my 2nd trimester of my 2nd pregnancy, but this is a new one!  My lower belly has been BURNING since lunch, below my belly button but all around my front.  It's not heartburn; I know that well during pg. ;)  I did have a spicy lunch but I've never ever had any issues with spicy foods before; I've had spicier while pg without issue, in fact.  This was Thai food which I had been craving all weekend, and while I ate constantly while I was pg with DD!  It's been about 6 hours since I ate and it still HURTS.  Obviously I'll have to be super mindful of spice from now on -- which sucks since I love spicy foods, and I can't say for sure that's what caused this -- but is this wacky?  Everything I've read says not to eat spicy stuff because of heartburn but this is different (not to mention that was one bit of advice that not been relevant to me...and indeed DD loves spicy foods, LOL).  It's not gotten any better in the last 6 hours, so that's why I'm concerned.  I haven't felt the baby all day today, so maybe I'm just being paranoid because of that. :(  It really feels like a digestive thing though, not cramping at all.

Is anyone familiar with this lower belly burning sensation?  Thank you!!!

ETA: She's kicking a tiny bit now, just a couple light nudges.  I should have added that it's happened once or twice before where I didn't feel her for the first 3/4 of a day and she gained speed around this time of day and kicked constantly while I was trying to sleep. :):)

Re: burning in lower belly?

  • Well, here I am, about 10 hours after lunch (and a few hours after a mild dinner) and I'm feeling better.  I did have some Dr. Ben & Jerry's about 90 minutes ago which slowly really helped!!!  Unfortunately I still haven't felt baby girl other than when her ears must have been ringing just after I posted earlier, so I'm hoping she'll make it hard on me to fall asleep tonight so I can feel better; I'm assuming it's just a coincidence since this was a digestive oddity for sure.  I'd still more than welcome any thoughts, but I just wanted to post an update.  Thank you, friends!!! :)
