And they were surprisingly excited and supportive! I mean I didn't think they would be mad or disspointed or anything, but I didn't expect the positive reaction that I got. It was really nice
It's funny because I'm the only person who has had a baby at our office since I work in a CPA/Investment firm that's been around for 30+ years and it consists of 15 men and 3 older ladies most are all grandparents. My boss asked me how long I wanted for maternity leave As long as you will give me man!!!!
What a relief!
Re: Told the office today
Great news!! I'd be like, can I have a year?! Kidding of course. They will probably all be so excited to see pictures of your LO since they are all older and at a phase where they can enjoy that kind of stuff.
I asked for 13 weeks and got 12. It's not like I NEEDED the extra week but it would have been nice. This time I plan on taking 13 weeks again. Under FMLA they have to hold your position for up to 13 weeks and after that they can eliminate your position or hire someone else. Also under short term disability I got paid 100% of my wage for 6 weeks (vaginal delivery) and then the rest was taken care of by what little paid personal leave I had, which wasn't much but oh well! This time it will be about the same, I'll end up with about 8 weeks paid.
I don't even think my boss knows how to apply maternity leave for someone. Luckily, I'm in a small office that I think he will just say take what you need and we will see you in July/August! He also said if you need to bring the baby in one of the ladies here will snatch it up and watch it all day Luckily, they are pretty leniant so if something ever comes up or I need to leave they are always ok and understanding about it.
Now the hard part is, how do I go about finding a good and trustworthy daycare for LO? I'm so scared of this.

My Food Blog - Good Eats 'n Sweet Treats
I asked around, I asked friends, I asked them to ask friends of friends. I called centers and in home cares and had a list of questions to ask. A BIG question for me was could I stop in unannounced to see the center after my initial interview. If they said no, then it wasn't somewhere I wanted to take DD. Why would they NOT want me to stop by? Were they doing something wrong? Did they lie about ratios, etc? I also asked ratios for the infants, normal is one adult to 4 babies. I also asked how often toys were cleaned and with what, I'm a nurse so infection is a BIG thing for me.
Google list of questions to ask daycares and then talk to your friends/family for recommendations. Once you get some recs, call them and set up interviews. See if you vibe over the phone as well, if I didn't feel good after talking to them, I would later call to cancel my interview.

ALL such great suggestions, thank you! I never realized how hard this really is. I always thought I wanted to be a SAHM, but I actually want to go back to work. It was really hard to come to this decision.
Thanks again for the great suggestions
