PSA - Baby Love files Bankruptcy

Over the weekend, Dh and I went furniture shopping for the boys.  We had already ordered the cribs from Baby Love over a month ago, and were expecting them within the week.  The store we were at actually informed us of the bankruptcy, and the fact that manufacturers may not be delivering to Baby Love depending on judgments, etc.  

We called Baby Love immediately and were informed we would get our order, however the timing is unknown!  Yeah, we can't wait for that.  In order to cancel the order, we need to speak to the manager today... but already re-ordered the cribs (and other pieces from the store we were at).  Thank God I pay everything w/ AMEX... I know we'll have no problem getting our money back.

Just wanted to inform everyone JIC they were in the same situation... obviously they aren't informing their customers.

Thanks for positing this!! I always shop at Baby Love and they haven't said ANYTHING to me!! (and I think they know me since I'm always in there, and refer to things I've bought)

I was in shock when I heard b/c I really did love the store that one visit we did (quite a trip for us).  We have have been communicating w/ one of the furniture reps there and they never mentioned anything which I find rude since they know we are having twins, and need our cribs ASAP!

My brother told me about this last week but I wasn't sure it was true since we didn't buy anything from there. Are they closingtheir stores? I will tell my friend who ordered her crib from there.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear this jackie. Hope you get your cribs on time and everything works out for the best. That is really disappointing to hear they are bankrupt.

That's terrible!  But, AMEX does have great customer service so you should definitely get your money back.  What an inconvenience, though, now to have to look for furniture elsewhere.  Ugh!  Something similar happened with a vendor at our wedding and we found out a week before!

All our funiture is now ordered, and should arrive from the new store w/in 2 wks (2 pieces are already at the warehouse).  Can't wait for it to be in the house!  As for the refund on deposit, yeah, I'm not concerned b/c AMEX is awesome w/ things like that... it is just now the headache of dealing w/ the mess.

Bankruptcy usually means sales... if the merchandise belongs to them.  Although I do feel bad for the store b/c everyone there was so friendly, I do hope the sales come soon so I can take advantage and get the stroller!  : )

That's so sad.  I loved that store and it's where we got our nursery furniture.  They were always so nice but after the move and the opening of Buy Buy Baby it's not a huge surprise.  Boo.

I just found online that they are filing a Chapter 11 so they are trying to reorganize.  I hope they don't go out of business.  They have a lot of employees that will be out of work! 

I teach classes there weekly and this is the first I heard of it.  I really hope they don't close.

 Dawn, you're right.  The move to the big store, the opening of Buy Buy Baby, and the economy down turn made a perfect storm. 

Baby Love really should have advertised more.  Not that many people even know it exists.

NOO! This is my favorite store.  I drive far to get there at least every other month.  They  know me well there.  I pray all goes well.  They have the best customer service and the staff is BEYOND knowledgable.  I hope it just means that they need a little boost in this economy and they won't totally close.  Ah man.

I pray all goes well w/ your furniture and anyone else that is dealing with orders there.  We plan on visiting this weekend actually.
