I don't know why I am questioning it but I am just nervous to get one. I have had the flu once in my 40 years and haven't had a flu shot before. Should I just do it???
I was going to ask too. Someone asked today on the April board and it got really crazy with the "scare tactics." IMO at least. So, I wanted to ask the sane ladies. LOL
I got one last year, but I don't know yet. I'm for sure waiting unil 15 weeks or so if I do. But, I don't know yet.
I never get the flu but got both the flu shot and the H1N1 shot when I was pregnant. I didn't want to risk getting sick, but more importantly, I wanted the girls to be vaccinated (from me) since they were born during cold/flu season.
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
I am going to refuse the shot. I have never had the flu in my life. I had to get the flu shot 2 years in a row for work, it was manditory and I was sick for almost a week both times. My body does not do well with it otherwise I would get it.

Thanks! I didn't think about it being a vaccination for the baby. I guess I am most worried about how I will react to it since I have no past experience. And I must tell you that your girls are beautiful and you always have the cutest pictures of them!
I got both shots, seasonal flu and H1N1, last year while TTC and I was worried about the effects then. I am going to ask at work (I work in a hospital) when they are starting the shots, and then will ask my OB what they think. I'm sure they will tell me to get it and I'm planning on getting it anyway, but I will make sure to ask for the preservative free shot like I did last year. Last year was the first year I got any type of flu shot because I was worried about getting sick from it, but that didn't happen other than maybe a day of feeling off. Plus with being so late in my pregnancy and being around people that come in for every little sniff and cough, I just don't want to risk getting anything.

I had the flu last year and as far as I'm concerned, THAT was my shot. My child will have the immunities I developed from having H1N1. I will not be getting the vaccine.

Aww, thanks!
Oh, forgot to mention that I was really up in the air over the flu shot thing so I called my Peri and he said that he would tell his wife to get it if she were pregnant, so that sealed the deal for me.

This is on my list of questions for the Dr. on Wednesday, although I plan to get one and also have DH get one. I'm due in the middle of flu season.
I have gotten it for over 10 years since I worked in a school and also with severely handicapped students (many were medically fragile) and have never had an issue.
I also got the H1N1 last year in November. My RE suggested it since i was doing IVF at the same time that we were having a small outbreak in my school.
DH and I will both be getting the pertussis booster. I won't get it while I'm pregnant, but will get it in the hospital once smudge is born. DH will be getting it at our doctors office. We're looking into my mother getting it as well, since she will be our day care provider for the 1st year.

I'll be getting it for a couple reasons. 1- I teach, so they germify me big time. 2-I'll likely have the babies in February-ish, which will still be flu season. As the babies are more likely to be early than a singleton, I want them to have some protection from at, and I don't want any of us bringing it home to get them sick. Preemies+ sick= bad bad news. 3-With the thermerisol free one, I don't see a downside. 4- I've gotten every little thing that's run through the school the last few years EXCEPT the flu and H1N1 (which I was vaccinated against.) As the flu is more likely to have serious complications when PG, I'm all about protecting myself from further misery.
Yes. My babies will be born in November and will need the immunities. And the last thing I need it to be sick with the flu while pregnant with (or caring for) newborn twins and a toddler.
I'm getting it. I checked with my OB who strongly recommends getting it plus I work in a hospital so I'm exposed to the flu all the time. I'm encouraging all our family to get it as well to protect the babies.
When we found out we were pregnant in February, our RE highly recommended I get both the flu and H1N1 shot, even though flu season was starting to wind down. So yes, DH and I got them both.

What about the pertusis (sp?) booster / vaccine?
