Infertility

Acupuncture Question

Hi all!

For those who are currently going through acupuncture for IF, I was wondering if you will continue after you become pregnant?  Why or why not?

If you will continue with the acupuncture treatments, for how long into your pregnancy?

Thanks!

Re: Acupuncture Question

  • I might.  I really like acu, but cost is definitely a factor.  I probably couldn't swing once a week, but maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks.

  • I continued with acupuncture until I was 8 weeks.  I stopped because of the cost -- she would had wanted me to continue until 12 weeks.  I really think it made a difference to get me my BFP.

  • i love acupuncture! i went twice a week for 6 weeks leading up to my ER. on the day of my ET i had acu before and after the procedure. it is *so* relaxing.

luckily my insurance covers 70% of the cost, so i will continue going about once every other week now. it really helps with stress release. in fact, i'm going tomorrow!

  • Honestly I haven't thought about it. It's a bit expensive, but I will do anything that I have to.

  • I would love to continue acupuncture, but my Dr.'s office is about 45 minutes from me and it's pretty difficult to be out of the office. I may keep it going, but haven't come to an official decision yet

  • I love it. If I get pg I will continue as long as my doc and the acupuncturist agree.

  • I went to an acupuncturist before my second IVf attempt in an effort to become pregnant. It didn't work, unfortunately my second IVF attempt resulted in a chemical pregnancy. But I'm still going to my acupuncturist even though my insurance doesn't cover it .... it's a great stress relief and it helps me to feel much better :) I highly recommend acupuncture.
  • My acu recommends it through the 1st trimester she believes it helps with embryo development.
