I read that it is common for woman to loose a little bit of weight due to tummy issues in the 1st Tri.. I am reading the Dr. Oz book about having a baby and he says this is common for a lot of woman who have severe 'morning' sickness.

My weight fluctuates around 3-4 pounds up and down during a week normally, so I wouldn't really count 2# weight loss as weight. It could be that your gut is just empty. That being said, I went down 3 pounds for several weeks while I was nauseous and trying to eat healthy. Now I'm still nauseous, but having cravings for chinese food and grilled cheese, so have put it back on. You don't really need to gain any weight until the second tri anyway. Don't worry!
I was up two pounds a couple of weeks ago and now I'm down a pound. Even though I've got pretty constant nausea, I am pretty sure I'm getting enough calories. I'm chalking the loss up to muscle loss/atrophy since I was muscular before the BFP but have barely worked out, let alone moved, in the last month due to the fatigue and nausea.

Good to know! I cant wait to start having cravings... Grilled cheese doesnt sound too bad right about now!

I lost 5lbs between my first and second ultrasound. I haven't been throwing up, but have had extreme nausea that hasn't allowed me to eat much at all. My doctor told me this is normal, and that in the first trimester, this is okay because they baby isn't needing those extra calories yet. She said my body would tell me what the baby needs.
I lost a LOT of weight since becoming pg. My dr now has me on meds for ms and they seem to be helping. My dr also told me if I can't even keep fluids down for 24 hrs I need to call immediately. It could just be the HcG in your system kicking your metabolism into overdrive. She said some weight is ok, but if you continue to lose weight, you need to contact your dr.
I lost 12 lbs during the 1st trimester with DS. I was sick and just did not feel like eating. As long as your ob-gyn is not concerned, don't freak out about it!
and the greatest of these is love......2/10/07

Last time with DD, I lost weight up until I was 6 months along. I only gained 13 lbs. with DD. I lost 18.5 lbs the first 6 months due to hyperemisis. DD was growing and showing great signs up health so OB wasn't worried about the weight loss. She explained that I was loosing weight while DD was gaining. I sure hope you feel better soon!!
Thank ladies... Good to know that it seems pretty common, I just worry that my prenatals arent being digested. I am almost to the 2nd tri so hopefully the m/s starts to fade in the next month.

I'm down five- by this time with DD I was up 10. So long as you are not getting dehydrated and you are occasionally holding down your PNV your baby is going to take from you. If you aren't able to anything solid down you should talk to your doctor about taking some meds. If I have a rough day I take a Gravol an hour before dinner and force myself to hold down something- it helps you body breakdown and absorb your PNV.
I either lost weight up until i hit the 3rd trimester. Then i started to plump up. Try to eat small foods high in calories but good for you. Peanut butter was my friend!
I lost 15 pounds with DS I was extremely sick. But I ended up fine and DS was perfectly healthy. You should be okay. But talk to your doctor about it if you don't feel comfortable.

I've actually lost a total of 17 lbs since I was about 5 weeks, which is almost 15% of my total body weight. I was diagnoised with hyperemesis, thus the extreme weight loss.
