1st Trimester

please give me hope...

i was supposed to be 10 weeks last week, but found my baby had stopped growing, then on last friday i had my miscarriage. i was on clomid and have recently read that that could have been a factor in my miscarriage...... i have never been this devastated in my life, but was wondering if i caused this by taking clomid? has anybody heard of this and please tell me that someone has had a healthy baby after a loss.

thank you.....

Re: please give me hope...

  • My sister could only get pregnant by taking clomid. They tried for a very long time, and then her first time with clomid and they were pregnant with twins. I don't think it was the clomid. I''m so sorry you are going through this. I miscarried twins at 12 weeks last December. I had a missed miscarriage so they had to do a d&c. I was devasted and waited till July to ttc again. I got my BFP August 3rd and so far (fingers crossed) everything seems good this time. I am very sorry for your loss, take all the time you need and I hope to see you here again soon :) Hugs

  • I am so sorry for your loss. I'm not sure that Clomid increases your risk of miscarriage. It is commonly used to help women who struggle to get pregnant. Lots of women have healthy pregnancies after a loss, so don't be too discouraged. I wish you the best of luck and hope you are back in the game soon. The mc/pl board and TTCAL were both great support for me after my losses. ((hugs))

  • Most miscarriages have nothing to do with anything you did.

Either something goes wrong with the development or the placenta, and the baby just can't go on. It's not your fault. It's not the Clomid. It's just a sh!tty roll of the dice.

Don't blame taking Clomid. Don't feel bad about taking it again if you need to. Lots of things may slightly skew the odds of miscarriage, but if you can't get pregnant without Clomid, how can you have a baby without risking it?

  • I had a successful pregnancy on Clomid and two m/cs while not using Clomid.

  • I have had a successful pregnancy while using Clomid, and also several m/c while not on Clomid.

I'm sure it wasn't the Clomid. I am so sorry for your loss.

  • I am really sorry.

You did NOTHING to cause this.

  • I have never heard clomid having the side effect of increased risk of miscarriage.  It could've been due to whatever underlying diagnosis that caused you to have to use clomid - or it could've just been a fluke of nature, unfortunately.  I'm so sorry for your loss.  But I wouldn't hesitate to use clomid again if I were in your position.
