I need to order DD#1's cake for her birthday celebration next weekend.  We did a cake from Safeway's bakery last year that was decent, but I thought it might be fun to try something different.  We're going with a "Fancy Nancy" theme, but I'm sure any bakery could come up with something appropriate.  We live in the Falls Church/Merrifield area, so preferably something not too far from there...

Ideas?  TIA!

Pastries by Randolph has great cakes, as does Alexandria Pastry Shop.

Another vote for Amphora!  They made our wedding cake and it was fantastic.  They are awesome

Another vote for Amphora, they did wedding, baby shower and all birthday cakes. We've been going to them for over 30 years!!!

I don't know if either of these places do kids cakes, I assume they do - you can speacial order from either, but both are in Falls Church/Merrifield and have DELICIOUS cake and pastries - Pastry Xpo in Merrifield and Natalia's Elegant Creations in Falls Church.  They are my go to places for desserts.

Heidelberg is outstanding.  Swiss Bakery and Alexandria Pastry Shop also do a great job.

Personally, I love love love Firehook's cakes - especially chocolate.  Just got one for my H's birthday and it was so moist and dense.
