Thoughts on Beverly?

I love older names for girls.  My daughter is Cora Evelyn.  When looking at the 1909 SSA list, I came across Beverly.

I am kinda liking it, and even the hubby likes it.

The meaning kinda sucks, but who really cares about that anyway.  I have no clue what my name means unless I look it up (curious now lol)

It has not been in the top 1000 names in over 10 years, so it is obviously not popular, which I like.

So, thoughts on Beverly??

I've always kinda liked Beverly! :adds to list: I don't understand why Beverly isn't more popular, Everly seems to be rising up the charts.

I kind of like it. It sounds a bit unfashionable because it was most common in our grandmothers' generation (similar to Dorothy), but if you take it on its own merits, it's pretty.

I have seen some people on this board who have named their daughters Everly, but I like Beverly better. My only concern would be that it sounds similar to your daughter's middle name, but that's probably not a big issue.

It's my aunt's name so I think of someone in their late 50's. It's not bad but I would never use it.

It's OK. My aunt's name is Beverly but she's called by her middle name (Annette) which has always been my preference. It's pretty, but to me it's kind of dated. (Although Bev IS a cute nickname!)

Since I'm, from Portland it instantly makes me think of Beverly Cleary.  Beverly is a nice, not popular name.  However I am more partial to Ramona.

This. I taught a Beverly last year and the name fit her to a T! She was adorable and Bev was a perfect NN for her.

I love it, always have... but my last name is Hills so we named our Pug Beverly Hills. Yes, she has a rhinestone collar.

It's funny b/c I've always thought of it as an older name but now that I think about it, it is pretty and the next generation probably won't have that association.  Also, I agree that Bev is an adorable nn.

NMS but its not terrible. My sister has a friend named Bev (shes 18) and she is adorable!

You may have found it on the 1909 list, but it peaked at #14 in 1937. It's not due for it's comeback for another 25 years. That's an entire generation from now.

Can't wait till my kids start naming their kids names that I think are "old lady names".
