I'm giving a bridal shower next month for my cousin, who is also my best friend. This'll be the first shower I've given. I'm having it at my house. It's an everyday shower ( no specific 'theme') and I'm not sure what to do as far as food, decor, etc is concerned.
I know a lot of you are PRO's at hosting- could you help please
Re: Ladies, I Need Help
I would say the first priority would be ordering/sending out invitations. You need to decide on a time and you will need to know where she is registered to include all of that info on the invite. You will also need to get her working on her guest list so you'll know how many invites to order and then get the addresses from her so you can send them out on time...probably 3 weeks prior to the date.
The other important things would be:
Plan the Menu
Flowers/Vases
Balloons (if you want them)
Favors
Games (if you are playing any)
Make sure she has a registry book for everyone to sign/to write down who gifts are from, etc.
Think about and buy things like table cloths if you need them and decide if you are going to do paper products (plates, napkins, eating utensils) or if you are going to use real dishes/silverware.
Serving Dishes/Pitchers for Drinks...Beverage Containers, Punch Bowls, etc.
Rent anything extra you may need like coffee caraffes, extra chairs, etc.
As for food, I think it totally depends on the time of day you are hosting it. If it is a meal time, then you need to serve a meal. If not, then I think heavy horderves are okay...or, if it's in the morning, brunch...after dinner, you could do just desserts, etc. Once you know your timing, I'd be happy to help you with the menu. That's my favorite part of planning showers!
Thanks Ladies!!
Monica- I just ordered invitations today-- we had a date, location, and time.
The only specific thing that she said she wanted was spinach dip... So, absolutely I would love some help with the menu. Of course, the less extravagent, would be better. She's not a frilly girl, doesn't want a lot of frill, etc.
Monica has some great advice - so I'll just ditto what she said.
let us know if you need help with recipes/ideas!
