Hi Girls,
Well my OB called me late yesterday afternoon. My Beta HCG's went from 15000 to 18000 in 48 hours This is obviously not doubling but he said when they get that high that they may not double and that doesn't necessarily mean anything. He had me come in for an ultrasound at the last minute. We saw the Fleck, that is what DH calls it complete with a heartbeat BUT the HB was only 115 and the nurse who talked to me didn't seem overly positive that everything was okay. It was weird, I was really hoping to leave the appt with some answers but instead I just feel more confused but I learned a few things. I have a tileted and septate uterus which could be why it took us 2 and a half years to conceive. After reading about a Septate uterus it seems that makes me more likely to miscarry. I feel like I got a whole bunch of good and bad news
HCG levels are high but not doubling
Septate and tilted uterus could cause problems
Fleck is there but hb is not super fast
AHH. the nurse is going to call me on Monday , she said I need care sooner than my appointment on the 21st. I feel like a rollercoaster between guarded optimism and just knowing I am going to have a miscarriage. I am really trying hard to remain positive but this is going to be a long weekend.
Thanks for listening to my rambling.
oh and I am freaking out this morning because I am totally nauseous but my bbs are not as sore as yesterday
Re: a surprise ultrasound, mixed feelings..ahh
At my first u/s at 6w5d the heartbeat was 114. My re told me anything over 110 was good. I had another u/s at 8w5d h/b was 170 and 10w5d h/b was 165 and baby is measuring right on. Like PP said, the heart rate fluctuates.
It took me ove two years to get pregnant too and I almost had to have a hysterectomy earlier this year. I know it's hard not to worry when you have wanted and tried for this baby for so long. I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months!!
I have a septate uterus. It took us 8 months ttc DS#1 and 11 months ttc#2. I had some bleeding with DS but wtih no cramping so I just had to rest and take it easy for the weekend until it was over.
Dr's originally thought I had a bicornuate uterus so I guess it's all in their opinion what I have because they look really close.
Try not to think negatively. Try not to analyze every symptom and twinge. Congratulations!

Mine was 115 at my first appointment too and has been fine ever since. Usually about 145-150. It takes a little while for those tiny hearts to get up to speed.
Nurses aren't doctors. I'm a nurse, so I don't mind saying this. But sometimes they speak when they shouldn't. Seems your might have. That heartbeat is FINE. I speak from experience with my own baby.
Also, don't be surprised if you end up on progesterone. I was on it till 12 weeks and I believe that's the only reason I carried this baby through the 1st trimester. It's good stuff.
