Cloth Diapering

Questions about Fuzzi Bunz

So we are switching to Cloth Diapers and I think after some research we are going with Fuzzi Bunz can any one tell me what they like or dont like about them? I am thinking of getting the All in Ones. Do you have a brand you prefer over these? We will likely only use on evenings and weekends because I have not talked to my childcare provider yet about whether she would be OK using them as well. Are these good overnight diapers?

Re: Questions about Fuzzi Bunz

  • i love our fuzzi bunz, we have both the one size and sized versions.

if you're wanting all in ones, fuzzi bunz are pockets, but once they're stuffed they function the same.

at night i add 1-2 hemp inserts along with with the microfiber and it works great.

  • My daughter as skinny legs, and is only 3 weeks old (6 lbs right now).  So the xs perfect size FB's are barely just beginning to fit her, but are still a bit big on the legs, and I have to use the 2nd snaps, all the way to the center front...and these are supposed to fit 4 lbs up to 12 lbs.  For the all in one or pocket styles, I've had better luck with the older style Thirsties All in One pocket diapers with aplix.  So far they're the only PUL lined diapers that have fit.  Otherwise we use fitteds and prefolds under covers.

honestly not really, i love them both.  the sized are a little trimmer, but the OS fb's are the trimmest OS that we have.

  • We love the one size FB! I would get a few other brands to try, too. My other favorites are bumGenius 4.0 with snaps and one size Blueberry pockets. DS wets too heavily to wear CDs overnight, but I like BG best for nap time stuffed with hemp and bamboo...FB are too narrow through the crotch to accommodate a lot of extra inserts. BG and BB run wider so I think they're better for sleeping.

  • We LOVE our FB OS! I wish I had known earlier how much I love them. I would have bought more of those over our BGs. I plan on buying more though. :)

  • I love our FBs- actually prefer the sized ones over the OS though- they just fit better on my guy.

I have a huge stash of BG AIOs and Thirsties AIOs and I got into FBs late in the game, but LOVE them so I sold off some of my other stash to get more of them. I still only use BGs for daycare though, as the aplix seems much easier for them to figure out than the snaps.

Also in case you are ready to buy- you may want to stalk www.motherofasale.com today as they said they would have small, med and os FBs on today sometime!!

  • Just to throw out another opinion, I've never been a big fan of FB's. The "new style," in particular, have not fit either of my kids well at all. (I did have an old-style size small that worked pretty well for DS.) I also found the snap placement to be VERY confusing at first -- not good babysitter diapers.

I always recommend getting just a few of one type of diaper to start, because what works well for someone else might not work well for you, and vice versa. So many people love their FB's, but they just don't work in our house, so I'm glad I didn't buy a big stash of them to start!

  • Your LO is adorable, BTW :)

As for the diapers, it's really best not to put all your eggs in one basket starting out.  Not all diapers fit well on all babies, and it would suck to buy a whole bunch of one kind only to find that you don't like how they work on your son!  I really recommend trying a bunch of different kinds (you can do that through a diaper trial - I know Jillian's Drawers has one).  We use FB OS (and like pp said, they are pockets, not all-in-ones), and they aren't my favorites.  I thought I'd really like them because I LOVE my Perfect Size FBs, but they just don't fit DD as well.

I also have BG 3.0s, which I like fine now that I've converted them to snaps and replaced the mf inserts with hemp. And Blueberry pockets, Rumparooz and Grobaby.  They all have their pros and cons.

As far as overnights, the key is the stuffing.  Pockets in general are good overnight diapers because you can customize the absorbency.  FB OS do have a smaller pocket than the other pockets I've used, so you can't stuff quite as much into them as you can into the BGs or the Blueberry diapers.

Finally, I don't know how big your LO is, but it's not unlikely that OS diapers still won't fit him.  DD didn't fit into hers until 3.5 months.
