New formula/bottle momma here and was wondering

How do you heat up your bottles?  Do you have a bottle warming machine?  I am about to go out and buy a bunch of bottles and was just wondering which were best.  Thanks :)

Re: New formula/bottle momma here and was wondering

  • no bottle warmer... we just run the bottle under warm water or fill a cup with warm water and let the bottle sit for a bit. we use playtex ventair bottles and havent had a problem...

  • I just give him room temp bottles.  I've always figured that would make the transition to cold cow's milk easier, and so far it's proving true! (LO has had a small cup of cold milk here and there)

Plus it's nice when you're out and about not to have to worry about warming milk.

OOOO good thinkin'! Maybe I will do that since she is basically 10 months and getting closer to cow's milk time :)

This for us too. I just make them with coldish water now - I am *that mom* who makes bottles straight from the tap. :o)

  • H was EBF until 8 months and we went straight to pumped milk straight from the fridge.  He actually prefers it cold now and if his sippy is out too long I have to put it back in the fridge to keep it really cold. haha

  • Since you're close to a year, have you thought about going straight to sippy cups?

  • When we warmed them up, we would just put hot water in a big mug, then let the bottle sit in there for a minute or two, then shake to make the temperature even throughout. She's been taking room temperature bottles for a few months now, though, which is so much nicer. No more worrying about finding a way to heat it up in the middle of the night or when we're out.

I never thought about that!  I guess I could try although when I give her water or juice it comes out so fast that she always chokes.  Maybe I have a bad sippy tho because my mom's she sucks like a champ and doesn't choke.

  • I heat the bottle of water in the microwave for 25 seconds and then add the formula powder.

  • We've never heated up her bottles. She's always had them straight out of the fridge. We used to BF and supplement with a bottle per day and even then she would take them cold. I figure it's easier than trying to warm them when out of the house. She doesn't seem to mind at all.
