TTC after Laparoscopy/Hysteroscopy? and experiences?

I posted a while ago but wanted to ask again and see if I could get more replies on this!

For anyone who has had a Laparoscopy/Hysteroscopy, how did it go? I am mainly having these procedures to most likely remove a septum.

When did your RE say you could TTC again?

Thanks so much!

Re: TTC after Laparoscopy/Hysteroscopy? and experiences?

  • I had a laparoscopy/hysteroscopy/D&C done in Sept. 2007 to check for endometriosis, which was found and removed during the surgery.  I was told we had to sit out that cycle due to risk of infection, but would be able to start trying with the next cycle.  I wasn't able to for over 6 months due to complications from the surgery, but that's when most people are able to TTC again.

  • Not sure if I replied to your earlier post, so here goes.  I just had this done in early August and am getting ready to cycle now (IVF).  You'll likely be put on meds (E2/P4) post-op (to help the septum area heal) and then will need to get AF again and get an all clear (by u/s).  Feel free to PM me (or check out my blog) if you want more info.  GL!!!

  • I had both in one procedure and it was pretty simple.  I was out cold, and when I woke up I was in quite a lot of pain but they drugged me right away and I felt better immediately.  The gas discomfort was annoying - but not painful - for several days after the procedure but the pain subsided by the time I left the hospital.  My RE told me we had to wait 2 weeks to have s*x again.

  • I was put on BCP for my lap/hys/drilling and took it until two weeks after the surgery and we hopped right back on the train to do another IUI. If you time it right, you shouldn't be out of the game too long at all.
After 2 losses, IVF #2 brought us our little boys.

  • I had my lap and septum removed almost a month ago. Everything went great. I was put on E2/P4 after surgery for healing. We waited until after my FU appt. before we started BDing. I'm currently waiting on AF to show for my next IUI. Good Luck! The surgery was a breeze.

  • I had my lap/hyst in March and I was not supposed to TTC until I had 2 normal periods, so I was able to try again when I got my 2nd period after the surgery.  All in all, it was not too bad.  I was in a little pain from the gas they put in you.  There was a little pain from the incisions, but I took the pain meds and they made me feel much better! :-) I did not have a septum, so I can't really say how you will feel after that is removed, but I did not find the recovery to be too bad.  Good Luck!

After 1 IUI, 3 IVF's with CGH/CCS testing, 10 early miscarriages, and lots of tears and frustration, we are moving on to Domestic Infant Adoption!  We are so excited to see what the future holds.

  • Thanks so much everyone!! :)
