my BFF was told boy, but it's a GIRL!

So we went to a 3d place (she is 17 weeks) and the U/S tech told her she had been doing this for 4 years and she loves it, blah blah blah. We get in there and for about 30 minutes she goes on and on with the U/S, telling us it's a boy. Even typing in "I't s a boy, I love you mommy and daddy". My BFF did not want a boy, so she was silent for a good 10 minutes, although finally let up and became happy of course.

When it was over, I left and the grandparents left. I get a call 10 minutes later that they were wrong, they pulled her back in and it's a GIRL!

The ladies in the other room who work there watch the screens (from the other room), and apparently all said girl, however when the U/S tech typed in "boy" they all were thrown off. Needless to say, they took her back in and it's a GIRL. The lady had only been doing this for 6 months according to the manager.

I would have killed them. I wonder how often this happens?

Was this a "boutique" ultrasound place? I'm assuming it was not the Dr.'s office.

That's crazy! But I do feel like that if they tell me its a girl, I won't really believe it until the baby's born!

That's why I won't go to an outside place for my u/s. Yes it happens multiple times a year. The U/S isn't 100% correct.

this exactly! that is why insurance usually wont cover these places.

This is one reason why I might just make it a surprise for my 2nd child.

At least she found out about the mistake before she had a shower and painted the nursery!!

Until I held a girl I wasn't 100% sold on it being a girl... there's always a chance it's wrong.

I know! I was shocked! I still don't believe that it is in fact a girl. I will believe it when I see her! I am thinking I might wait until about 25 weeks to find out now, not 16-20. I want it to be good and accurate. Nice and plump.

lol! My sil only got a 20 week u/s w/ their second child. She couldn't wait to find out the sex of the baby. When the dr. told them boy they were so excited b/c they already had a girl and really wanted a boy. So her family threw her a small baby shower since they were having a boy and didn't have any boy things. Well come delivery day they had a girl! So even dr. can get it wrong.

Well, try actually being told one gender at one u/s, and 2 months later being told it was the other.  At 23 weeks, I was told I was 100% having a girl.  At 30 weeks when I did a 3d u/s, I was told I was 100% having a boy.  I had a boy.

One of my friends had a sonogram at her doctors she actually had a lot of sonograms and they always made sure that she was having a girl. They all said she was having a girl. her friends gave her a babyshower so she had tons of girl stuff. She had a three d u/s with her doctor and it said she was having a girl. She went into labor and had a boy...major shock to everyone.

I've heard of two people in the last month who were told at their ultrasounds that they were having girls, and they ended up delivering boys.  I'm thinking I'm not going to find out now.
