I read that last night but was to tired to comment. I would contact the police. He didn't just add a tip, he reprinted the receipt and forged their signature. That's fraud and theft. How many people has he done this to? Sounds like she has enough evidence as well, not maybe she forgot her tip kind of thing.

Oh man. I would definitely go to the police!! As a former waitress myself, I always check online because I saw how easy it was to change that amount. I feel bad for that woman, that is so wrong!! What a greedy server.
I would have lost my mind! I would definitely have called the police and filed a report. I would also wonder how many people he had done this to in the past.
Even if management handle it locally, I think I would also call the corporate office. This is a pretty big deal in my eyes. Its not like management could have done anything to figure this out before the customer, but it should be a pretty strict policy in a restaurant that we do not forge our customers signatures! I just think its something they should be aware of.
Wow, that is crazy. I would feel so violated! I would definitely be contacting the police, and probably sending an email to the corporate office, as well. Who knows how long this guy has been up to no good?
Also, I have to say, what a doof. Seriously. Not to sound like a criminal myself, but if you're going to inflate your tip, don't double a large tip. You're guaranteed to get caught. With his serious lack in judgement, I'm guessing that fraud and theft are the least of this guy's problems at this point.

Oh I had this happen before I can understand how pissed she is. The resturant refunded the money and did comp the meal. I dont know what happened to the waiter.
BUT If the manager is unwilling to bend, I think go above him, contact BBB (this usually gets people moving). If it's serious enough then yea I would contact police, but it doesn't usually get esculated to this point. Management usually want to fix the situation ASAP.
Re: WWYD in this situation
