I love the picture of your sheltie in your siggy. We have two shelties: Nugget (left) and Newman (right; named after Paul Newman and not the Seinfeld character). Aren't they so much fun?

This picture was taken last year so they are much bigger now.

  • Oh my gosh, SO cute, thank you for sharing! Wallace (Sir William Wallace) was named by MH. He gets a kick out of telling ppl that Shelties are Scottish & that's why he's named after William Wallace, but secretly I'm pretty sure it's just because Braveheart was his favorite movie.

Yours look so tiny compared to my monster (his mom was 16 3/4" & his dad was 16 1/2", and he was the tallest in the litter), how big are they now? And I am dying for a blue merle Sheltie companion for Wallace, I told MH that I either wanted a baby or another Sheltie, his choice. Guess I'm going to have to wait a little longer for that 2nd Sheltie lol.

    Wallace is a big brother!

I like your picture too. That shirt cracks me up!

Thank you! He wasn't very happy about it (as you can probably tell from his facial expression), and spent the entire time walking around like a NFL linebacker in an XS t-shirt.

Mine are adults (finally!), and that picture was taken when they were still puppies. Newman is on the tall side for a sheltie, but Nugget is a little squirt. Everything about him is small including his tiny little head and beady eyes, but he's the biggest sweetheart. He's probably a good three inches shorter than Newman. I don't really have any other good pictures right now... all of them are cell phone pics that are slightly fuzzy because they are in mid-run or something. I'll try to get a better picture showing their perspective.

We got Nugget in August 2009 to be a companion to Shaky, our first sheltie. It took a lot of convincing to get my husband to let us get another dog because we were already trying to conceive. I finally convinced him by explaining that Nugget was only 3 months at the time, so even if we got pregnant at that very moment, he would be an adult by the time I had the baby Little did we know then that we'd have trouble conceiving, so they will be almost 2 by the time we have our baby or babies. Unfortunately, Shaky tragically died in October in an accident, but by then we had decided that having two shelties was actually easier than having one, so we bit the bullet and got another sheltie puppy (Newman). They are best friends and soulmates. Having two can be a handful, but they definitely keep each other busy chasing each other instead of getting into mischief on their own.
